Way of the Hunter 2 updates: current build and future roadmap
The captured official known-issues page names 1.1.212672 as the most recent build. Update 0.4.0 and the 0.4.1 Experimental announcement are historical; roadmap features need their own release confirmation.
Start with the current build, not an old headline
The official FAQ dates the full PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release to September 29, 2026. The captured known-issues page is titled Version 1.1 and explicitly identifies build 1.1.212672 as most recent, even though its URL and some introductory text still mention 1.0.
Use the explicit build statement to interpret that page. It remains a list of known problems and available workarounds, not the full 1.1 patch notes. When reporting an issue, include your installed build and platform so a historical bug report or older fix is not mistaken for proof about your current session.
What the old 0.4.0 notes actually establish
Update 0.4.0 added Hearth & Hunt Headquarters, the Primacy Hunter 12-gauge shotgun, Merkel SxS Shotgun 45E in 20 gauge and a Primacy Long Range Choke. It also changed herd sizes to grow or shrink with population health and revised duck behavior, calling and decoying.
Its fixes include animals stopping at a fixed distance when correctly called, a shotgun-related stutter and freezing when opening the hunting map during certain actions. These details help date advice that predates those fixes. They do not establish that every similar symptom is impossible in 1.1, or that 0.4.0 is the latest update to install.

Keep Experimental instructions attached to their version
The August 27 announcement concerns Experimental build 0.4.1.208043. After its progression rebalance, players might need to earn at least one additional XP point before the new level appeared. The developers said they intended to fix that display issue before moving the update to the default branch.
That is a historical workaround, not a blanket fix for present-day level problems. The same announcement warns against returning Experimental save files to the default branch and recommends backups. If you are comparing old reports, record which branch they used; do not transplant experimental-save advice into a current stable-play walkthrough without checking its applicability.

Read future features as plans with different scopes
The roadmap lists new trophy variations, a hunt-rating system, weather-influenced animal senses, a female character and advanced dog training as post-launch work. Gear plans include muzzle brakes, a bow silencer and stabilizer, while paid DLC plans include equipment, hunting regions and later dog-focused content. These categories should not be presented as already unlocked launch features.
The FAQ describes two-player free-play co-op, while the captured current Xbox storefront labels online co-op for 2-4 players. These sources conflict; we have not tested session capacity, so confirm the limit for your platform before arranging a group. At publication, the roadmap placed text chat and password protection before later 3+ player support, Persistent Worlds and co-op expeditions, with some ambitious multiplayer work in 2027 and beyond. That historical plan does not prove the current maximum player count. Check a feature-specific release announcement and the platform’s actual session options before relying on it.
