Way of the Hunter 2
Way of the Hunter 2 ammo guide: loadouts and 1.1 stat fixes
Ammo choice now has two separate checks: bring a compatible loadout, then verify the version behind any stat comparison. The FAQ explains 2, 4 or 6 ammo slots; patch 1.1 corrects four displayed ammo entries but leaves known recoil discrepancies.
Build a compatible ammo loadout
Open the Shop through the lodge laptop or vicinity menu and buy the alternative ammunition you want to carry. The FAQ says each weapon has one default, free ammo type; alternatives cost money. Match the ammunition to the weapons you plan to take before filling the loadout.
Next, open Storage, choose your rifles or shotguns and put ammunition into your ammo slots. Multiple slots may hold the same ammo type. Finally, equip that ammunition to the rifles. Buying a type is not the same as having it in an equipped, compatible loadout. These steps paraphrase the developer’s workflow rather than a menu sequence tested on every platform.

How many ammo slots do you get?
The FAQ lists two sets without a backpack, four with the default backpack and six with the large backpack. Capacity is a planning constraint: decide which weapons and compatible types you need before leaving, instead of assuming every purchased type comes with you.
The same FAQ says bows and arrows do not yet have alternate ammunition in its described system. Do not apply the rifle/shotgun alternate-ammo instructions to those weapons without a newer update confirming support.

Four displayed entries corrected by 1.1
Patch 1.1.212672 explicitly fixes inaccurate Shop and Storage stats for .375 H&H Magnum (Grande Strike), .45-70 Government (Nucleus Break), .270 Winchester (Nucleus Break), and .300 Winchester Magnum (Nucleus Break Buffed).
The patch note names the affected entries, but does not publish replacement values or say that this is a damage buff. Check your installed build before comparing a screenshot or a chart from Early Access with the current Shop display. A display correction alone cannot support a new strongest-rifle ranking.

Recoil figures that still need caution
The checked known-issues page says .308 Winchester (Grande Swift) has less recoil than listed and 12 Gauge (Rapid Buckshot) has more recoil than listed. It also reports missing Accuracy values for slugs, bolts and arrows. No corrected numeric values are supplied there.
Do not treat a missing Accuracy stat as zero accuracy, and do not assign a guessed recoil number. When choosing between these entries, the current display is insufficient for a precise numeric ranking. The issue list is a useful check before spending in-game currency based on a comparison table.

A practical rule for older weapon guides
Check three things before using a chart: its game version, the exact ammunition name, and whether it describes a displayed value or a tested result. A chart for 0.2, 0.4 or 0.5 cannot automatically describe launch build 1.1.
This page is a loadout and version guide, not a ballistic test or an animal-specific rifle tier list. It deliberately gives no unsupported penetration, recoil or damage figures. Use the official sources below to check whether a later patch has resolved the remaining display problems.
