Way of the Hunter 2
Way of the Hunter 2 controls, settings and performance fixes
Keyboard and mouse controls can be remapped; controller layouts cannot. The official known-issues page identifies 1.1.212672 as the current build in the captured source and gives a specific TSR-to-FSR workaround on PC.
Set controls and readability first
Open the controls settings to customize keyboard and mouse bindings. Controller layouts are not customizable according to the FAQ, so do not expect the same remapping workflow on a gamepad. Update 0.4.0 historically changed stick sensitivity and deadzones and enabled vibration controls; those notes explain earlier improvements rather than a new 1.1 feature.
For readability, adjust the crosshair and individual Hunter Assist information, or disable Hunter Assist entirely. The high-contrast setting for animal signs and tracks is available at 1.0. Broader accessibility work and further controller feedback improvements remain roadmap items; the presence of a roadmap entry is not a menu option you can enable today.
Compare your PC against the published requirements
The current Steam listing specifies Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and 38 GB available storage for both tiers. Minimum hardware is a Ryzen 5 3600X or Core i5-9600K with an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT. Recommended hardware is a Ryzen 5 7600X or Core i5-14600K with an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 7600 XT. The FAQ’s older 30 GB and minimum DirectX 11 figures should not replace this current storefront specification.
Compare those requirements with your PC before interpreting a frame-rate problem as a broken setting. The FAQ lists DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, Frame Generation, resolution scaling, quality presets and ultrawide support, but no guaranteed frame rate. Steam currently labels Steam Deck compatibility Playable; the developer FAQ separately says Deck performance and gameplay are not optimized and manual configuration may be needed. Treat the storefront rating and the developer’s optimization caveat as different pieces of information.
Match the symptom to a documented issue
If the PC FSR option appears to have no effect, the known-issues page recommends selecting TSR first and then switching back to FSR. It also records frame-rate drops in some sunset locations and memory-related crashes on Xbox Series S, including heavily populated lodge dioramas. These are distinct cases, not evidence of one universal cause.
The same page lists missing footprints and droppings in fallen snow, plus visual problems with TSR or TAAU during snowfall. If tracks vanish only in snow, check that context before assuming tracking controls failed. Report the platform, location, weather, graphics choice and observed behavior so the case can be distinguished from ordinary difficulty finding an animal.

Handle old demo configuration separately
For incorrect resolutions, UI scaling or number glitches and certain graphical artifacts after using the demo, the FAQ points to old configuration files. Its procedure is to close the game, open %LocalAppData%\WOTH2\Saved and remove only the Config folder. New configuration files are generated at the next launch.
Treat this as a targeted configuration reset, not a general save repair: preserve saved progress and back up configuration you want to retain before following it. If symptoms remain, use the official bug database linked by the FAQ. The known-issues page says Xbox Live login can fail there; use another platform account for the report and explicitly identify the platform on which you actually play.
