End of Abyss
End of Abyss length and review context: story, completion and patches
Published launch reviews suggest roughly 12-15 hours for the story, with two reviewers reporting about 13 hours. Full completion is a separate, unverified duration.
What the playtime evidence actually measures
GameSpot reviewer Mark Delaney describes a 12-15-hour story and says his own playthrough lasted 13 hours. SmashPad reviewer Ruancarlo Silva reports nearly 13 hours to the first ending on PS5. These are two authored playthrough reports, not a measured average of the whole player population.
Use that range to budget campaign sessions, not to promise an exact finish. Exploration, combat retries and how often you revisit optional routes can change your result. GuideSpawn has not timed a personal playthrough, so this page attributes the estimates instead of presenting them as our own test.
Story credits are not a complete Logbook
The official store describes branching paths, hidden areas and tools that open previously inaccessible routes. Reaching an ending does not demonstrate that every creature, note, Data Shard or Code has been recorded. Use the achievement checklist to separate these collection goals rather than treating one overall completion percentage as sufficient.
The two cited reviews do not establish a dependable 100% or Platinum time. We therefore do not publish a 30-hour or 40-hour completion claim. Plan collection work separately from your first ending, and verify which target remains incomplete before repeating a long route.
What to expect beyond Little Nightmares comparisons
The official description centres on Cel, combat, equipment upgrades and scanner-led exploration. The reviews describe twin-stick shooting and Metroidvania-style backtracking. Visual or studio-history comparisons to Little Nightmares should not be mistaken for identical mechanics or a sequel relationship.
If you enjoy finding routes that become useful after an upgrade, that structure may suit you. If repeated combat is the main concern, try the official PC demo before using a visual resemblance as a buying recommendation. This is a fit assessment from the described mechanics, not a claim that one game is universally better.
Read launch reviews with the October fixes
The developer’s October 2 notes list fixes for Defibrillator-related freezing, energy-node doors and map problems, including a missing room and doors appearing reset. Do not repeat those launch-review complaints as confirmed current bugs without checking the installed version and reproducing them.
October 4 adds bridge-extension progression, room-transition performance and audio-hitch fixes. The listed versions are 01.013.000 on PS5 and 1.0.1.3 on Xbox Series and PC. Update first when comparing a current problem with an early review; these notes do not guarantee that every achievement issue or every performance problem has been eliminated.
